Portfolios

At the commencement of 2016, Birubi Point Preschool will be changing the children's physical book portfolio to a digital online portfolio called MyKidCare. MyKidCare is a new online child care software system that has been developed in conjunction with our preschool.

Your child's learning stories, photos and group learning experiences will now be easily accessible through the MyKidCare site.

Birubi Point Preschool is the pilot preschool providing feedback and ideas to develop the system to be user friendly, simple, fast and secure. We are excited that our feedback and ideas are developing a program that will meet the needs of educators as well as our families.

At the start of 2016, you will receive an email that will request you to accept an invitation and set up a password in order to access your child's individual online portfolio. In developing the system, privacy has been the most important consideration and your child's online portfolio is ONLY ever accessible and viewable by you as the parent/caregiver after you have securely logged in to the MyKidCare site using your username and password. Please ensure you choose a secure password that only you know.

The online portfolio aims to keep parents up to date in regards to their child's progress at the centre. Parents are notified by email when new content is added to their child's portfolio and parents are encouraged to look through the portfolio regularly. If you would like to opt out of receiving email notifications, you can do so by logging in to the MyKidCare site and updating your email preferences.

Children's progress portfolios are used to determine the needs and interests of the children in all areas of development. The focus for observation and evaluation of a childs progress is to develop an understanding of how the child uses strategies to learn, develop, interact and form relationships, and think critically. Documentation is used to evaluate children's engagements, determine opportunities for extending experiences and providing a representation of children's learning progress.
